18. Journal Communications Policy:
1. Open Access Policy:
This journal adopts the Open Access model, providing immediate and free access to all of its content, without charging subscription, access, or publication fees.
Articles may be read, downloaded, and shared freely, provided that proper attribution is given to the authors and the original publication.
All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license.
2. Open Science Policy:
The journal adopts Open Science principles, promoting transparency in the use of research sources and materials, and accepting manuscripts previously made available on preprint servers.
Upon submission, through the title page, authors must inform whether there are research materials associated with the manuscript — such as datasets, source codes, documents, and other content — as well as the availability of these materials and the existence of previous versions of the manuscript on preprint servers, providing justification for any restrictions on their sharing.
If research materials associated with the manuscript exist, the journal encourages their submission as supplementary material for peer review purposes.
3. Ethical Commitment:
The journal adopts good practices in academic and editorial integrity, in accordance with the principles of Open Science and the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Authors, reviewers, and editors must act with honesty, transparency, and responsibility, and practices such as plagiarism, self-plagiarism, data fabrication or falsification, and the omission of conflicts of interest are prohibited.
Cases of suspected misconduct will be examined by the Editorial Team, which may request clarifications from the authors, consult peer reviewers, members of the Editorial Board, or the institutions involved, and take appropriate measures. Where applicable, the investigation procedures shall follow the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Depending on the severity of the case, measures such as manuscript rejection, publication of corrections, retractions, or other appropriate editorial actions may be taken.
The journal receives communications related to the editorial process, including complaints, appeals against editorial decisions, requests for clarification, concerns regarding published articles and communications concerning the peer review process or editorial conduct. Such communications should be submitted through the official contact channels available on the journal's website. They will be reviewed by the Editorial Team and, when necessary, may involve the participation of members of the Editorial Board or ad hoc reviewers. All communications will be considered impartially and transparently, ensuring that the parties involved are given the opportunity to provide clarifications whenever appropriate. Decisions resulting from the review process will be communicated to the parties involved within a timeframe compatible with the nature and complexity of the case.
4. Conflict of Interest:
Any situation of a personal, academic, institutional, or financial nature that may influence the preparation, evaluation, or publication of manuscripts is considered a conflict of interest. The mere perception that a conflict of interest may exist is likewise relevant and must be disclosed.
At the time of submission, authors must declare, on the title page, the presence or absence of real or potential conflicts of interest. This declaration is intended to ensure the transparency of the editorial process and does not, in itself, prevent the evaluation or publication of the manuscript. It is the responsibility of the editorial team to assess the nature and extent of the declared conflicts and to decide on the continuation of the editorial process.
Editors must refrain from conducting the editorial process in cases where conflicts of interest or other impediments exist.
For additional guidance, the journal follows the recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors, available at:
5. Double-Blind Peer Review Model:
Manuscripts submitted to the journal are evaluated through a double-blind peer review process, in which the identities of authors and reviewers are kept confidential throughout the review process.
Submitted manuscripts initially undergo a preliminary editorial assessment (desk review), which verifies their compliance with the journal’s scope and formal requirements, as well as their academic quality and potential relevance. At this stage, the editorial team may decide to reject the manuscript without sending it for peer review.
Manuscripts considered suitable for evaluation are submitted to at least two ad hoc reviewers.
Reviewers are selected based on their academic expertise and scholarly production in the thematic area of the manuscript and must provide a reasoned evaluation regarding the quality, originality, relevance, and academic rigor of the work.
Reviews that do not present sufficient justification, analytical clarity, or compliance with the editorial guidelines may be disregarded by the editorial team.
In cases of substantial divergence between the reviews, the manuscript shall be submitted to an additional reviewer.
Manuscripts and reviews must not contain elements that allow the identification of authors or reviewers.
Reviewers must declare any conflicts of interest and refrain from participating in the evaluation process whenever an ethical impediment exists.
6. Use of Similarity Checking Software and Detection of AI Use:
Revista Opinião Filosófica adopts academic integrity and editorial ethics procedures consistent with national and international standards of good scientific practice. All submitted manuscripts may be analyzed using the Turnitin system for the purpose of verifying textual similarity, detecting plagiarism, self-plagiarism, and possible undeclared use of generative artificial intelligence tools.
Authors are fully responsible for the originality, authenticity, and accuracy of submitted content and must ensure proper citation of sources, references, and any technological resources used in the preparation of the work.
The identification of practices incompatible with academic ethics may result in rejection of the manuscript, retraction of the publication, or adoption of other appropriate editorial measures.
7. Artificial Intelligence Use Policy:
The use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in the preparation of manuscripts is permitted, provided that the principles of transparency and author responsibility are observed.
Authors must declare the use of AI upon submission, indicating:
– the tool(s) used;
– the purpose of their use in the preparation of the manuscript (for example, language revision, improving clarity, translation, or writing support).
This information must be included on the title page of the manuscript.
Authorship cannot be attributed to AI systems, nor may they be used in a manner that replaces the intellectual contribution of the authors.
Authors are fully responsible for the submitted content, including its arguments, analyses, and conclusions, as well as for the accuracy of information, references, and citations. The use of AI tools neither transfers nor mitigates this responsibility.
Failure to disclose the use of AI constitutes a violation of the editorial guidelines and the principles of academic integrity.
8. Authorship and Author Contributions Policy:
Authorship of published works presupposes effective participation in their preparation and entails responsibility for the submitted content.
For co-authored manuscripts, authors must report their individual contributions by completing the Author Contributions Form, based on the CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy). The information provided is the responsibility of the authors and is intended to ensure transparency regarding each contributor's participation in the preparation of the manuscript.
9. Digital Preservation Policy:
Digital preservation of Revista Opinião Filosófica is carried out by Editora Fundação Fênix, which adopts procedures intended to ensure the integrity, authenticity, availability, and continuous access to scientific publications in digital format. These strategies include periodic backups, redundant storage of files and metadata, preservation of the final published versions, and the use of DOI (Digital Object Identifier) through Crossref.
The journal also uses the LOCKSS and CLOCKSS systems as part of its digital preservation strategy.

The published works are made available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) License, which permits their sharing and use by third parties, provided that appropriate credit is given to the authors and the original source of publication is acknowledged.
Authors and readers are permitted to use, reproduce, and adapt the published works for any lawful purpose without prior authorization, provided that proper attribution is given to the authors and the original source of publication is indicated.
11. Article Processing Charges (APCs) and Publication Policy:
Publication in this journal is free of charge. The journal does not charge APCs (Article Processing Charges) or any other editorial fees.

Authors are solely responsible for the content of their manuscripts, including data, arguments, opinions, and references.
Copyright remains with the authors, who grant the journal first publication rights and make their works available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license, which permits use, distribution, and reproduction, provided that proper credit is given to the authors and the original source of publication.
14. Self-Archiving Policy:
Authors may deposit the final published version of their works in institutional repositories, subject repositories, personal websites, or other scholarly communication channels, in accordance with the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license, provided that the original publication in Revista Opinião Filosófica is properly acknowledged, thereby ensuring proper authorship attribution and linkage to the published scholarly record.
15. Errata and Retraction Policy:
The journal adopts procedures aimed at correcting and preserving the integrity of the scientific record, in accordance with good editorial practices and the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics.
Errors identified after publication that do not compromise the results or conclusions of the manuscript will be corrected through an erratum. In cases of serious errors, significant inconsistencies, or misconduct — such as plagiarism, self-plagiarism, fabrication, or falsification of data — the article may be partially or fully retracted.
Retractions will be duly justified, identified, and linked to the original text, which will remain available and indexed, with clear indication of its status. When appropriate, editorial statements or expressions of concern may also be published.
The journal ensures authors the opportunity to present a defense in cases involving the investigation of suspected misconduct before any editorial measures are adopted.
The journal is open to receiving reports of suspected misconduct, which may be submitted through the contact channels provided on the journal’s website and will be analyzed by the editorial team, with the participation of external reviewers whenever necessary. Corrections, errata, or retractions will be published as promptly as possible, ensuring transparency and accountability in scientific communication.
16. Preprints:
This journal adheres to the principles of Open Science and is committed to practices that promote transparency, broader access, and the dissemination of scientific knowledge. In this context, manuscripts previously made available on recognized preprint servers may be submitted, provided that they are not simultaneously under peer review by another journal.
The existence of a preprint version must be indicated on the title page, together with the repository in which the manuscript was deposited and the corresponding DOI or access link.

Revista Opinião Filosófica does not display commercial advertising on its website or within its editorial content.
